FEW AND FAR: Anniversary Oakland Mural Project

We just completed a new mural in Oakland which we painted on June 12th weekend to celebrate Few and Far’s 4 year anniversary. The mural, titled ‘Ode to Oakland’ celebrates Oaklands rich cultural diversity. It was painted on the side of the East Bay Resources recycling center on Mandela Parkway and is over 150′ long and 19′ high. We painted the entire thing over one weekend with 14 women working full days and late nights. The back side of the building was painted by friends of Few and Far making the entire building an outdoor live art event for the weekend. We had plenty of great local support including a slew of awesome Bay Area DJ’s who kept the tunes pumping into the night. Thanks to all the folks who brought us food, drinks, and came down to watch us work. We definitely felt the Oakland love! Go check out the finished wall at 26th and Mandela Parkway, opposite Brown Sugar Kitchen, and the back of the building on Willow st.’ Progress shots finished wall images coming soon!

Few and Far Art Basel Video

Few & Far at Art Basel, Dec. 2014 from AC_in_CA on Vimeo.

Art Basel is America's largest art fair, taking place annually each December in Miami, Florida, with thousands gathering from around the world to view the spectacle. Few and Far has gone out to paint a mural each year since its inception, and this one is their largest to date. At roughly 30' tall and over 90' wide, this wall was an amazing way for each of them to grow as artists and collectively show the world who they are: a crew of diversely talented female mural painters with a multitude of backgrounds, who work together to complete beautiful productions. Thanks for watching and see you next year!

Another amazing year of painting a huge mural with the women of Few and Far. This years theme was an electric underwater world, which we painted over 4 days during Art Basel: one of the worlds largest art events that happens over a week every December in Miami. Our wall was one of the largest all-female collaborations in the Wynwood district, with 16 Few and Far artists from various parts of the country and globe painting together on this mural.

“Helping Hands Over The Border Project”

September 28th, 2014 Meme from F&F set out to do an event in Tijuana Mexico. After Meme’s latest adventure to Tj, she decided she wanted to do some type of charity event for the youth of the city. Meme found help from a local Tj artist that goes by the name of Tfour.

Tfour found the location and helped organize by getting all the kids together for this event. System Krush is an organization helping spread the positive message of music to youth all the way in West Africa as well as world wide. System Krush was a physical sponsor for the “Helping Hands Over The Border Project”.

Crossing the border into Tj on foot while carrying all the donated goods. Meme hurt her knee messing around. Each person helped carry so much we were all rushing to get to the cabs and head to our hotel. Artist Beth Emmerich got very sick and was unable to help with the event the next day.
